
Riversharks Hold Off Patriots' Comeback

Bridgewater, NJ- The Camden Riversharks defeated the Somerset Patriots 7-6 in front of 7,708 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.
Camden jumped out to an early lead scoring five runs in the first inning. Pedro Feliz (6) blasted a three run homerun and Danny Richar (6) followed with a solo shot over the right field wall. Lloyd Turner then singled and came around to score on an error by Fernando Cortez.
Somerset got on the board in the bottom half of the inning after Michael Hernandez singled and scored on an RBI double by Josh Pressley to cut the lead to 5-1.
The Riversharks answered with two more runs in the top of the second on an RBI single by Brian Burgamy and a fielder's choice by Richar that scored Noah Hall.
A two run homerun by Cortez (4) in the bottom of the third inning helped Somerset chip away at the lead and make the score 7-3.
The Patriots continued to close in on Camden's lead in the fourth after Justin Huber doubled and scored on an RBI double by Matt Hagen to make the score 7-4.
A sacrifice fly to left by Cortez in the sixth got the Patriots within two runs and gave him his third RBI of the game.
The Patriots made it a one run game on an RBI groundout by Elliott Ayala to score Hernandez in the seventh for the 7-6 final.
Riversharks starter Federico Baez (5-2) picked up the win after allowing four runs in five innings pitched. Patriots starter Derell McCall (2-5) got the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits in two innings. Brian Stokes got his seventh save of the season after a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
The 2011 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Saturday night as the Patriots take on Camden Riversharks.
