Abbotsford Heat News Release
Peoria beat Quad City 5-2 on Sunday as the team's met at Carver Arena for the final time during the 2008-09 regular season. The Rivermen scored three times in the third period to earn the win, their eighth in nine meetings this year with the Flames. Kyle Greentree and John Vigilante score for Quad City in the loss.
The Rivermen held a 1-0 lead after one period thanks to an even strength tally by Trent Whitfield. It was the 19th goal of the year for the Rivermen's leading goal scorer and was netted off a feed by Chris Porter. The Flames penalty killing was strong in the opening frame as the team found itself shorthanded for 6:45 of playing time including 1:15 at a 5-on-3 disadvantage. Despite the extensive power-play time for the Rivermen, Quad City outshot Peoria 7-6 in the opening period.
The Flames tied the game at 4:30 of the second period when Kyle Greentree scored off the rebound from a Kris Chucko shot. It was the 33rd goal of the season for Greentree, good for second in the AHL. The Rivermen re-took the lead with 1:36 left in the frame. Yan Stastny netted his third goal of the year on a feed from Kris Porter. The tally set the Rivermen up with a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
John Vigilante tied the game early in the second when he snapped a shot past Manny Legace. Following Vigilante's marker, the period belonged to the Rivermen as Peoria rattled off three unanswered goals. Chris Porter put Peoria in front with a goal on a shot from the right wing wall. Two minutes later, Jonathan Filewich went to his backhand to score an insurance goal. Curtis Fraser capped the scoring with his second goal of the season at 11:49 of the closing frame. Fraser's tally set the final at 5-2.

After the game, fans can turn in their ticket stub for a half-price appetizer at Twenty Sports Grille and Nightclub in downtown Moline.
