
Bulldogs down Americans 4-3 in shootout

Rochester, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Rochester Americans 4-3 in a shootout on Sunday night. Mike Glumac recorded two goals and an assist in the win.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead at 9:34 of the first frame. David Desharnais sent a cross-ice pass to Brock Trotter, who released a shot. The puck sailed past Rochester starting goaltender Tyler Plante. Glumac also earned an assist on the goal.
The Americans tied the game 1-1 with a shorthanded marker at 5:04 of the middle frame. Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins exited his net to play a loose puck. Desjardins sent the puck up the middle of the ice before it was intercepted by Kenndal McArdle at centre ice. With Desjardins out of his net, McArdle fired the puck into the empty goal.
Glumac regained the Bulldogs' lead at 8:08 of the second period. Trotter fed a pass to Glumac, who was in front of the net. Glumac rifled a shot past Plante to increase his goal-scoring streak to five games. T.J. Kemp also earned an assist on the goal.
The Americans tied the game 2-2 with their second shorthanded goal at 5:07 of the final frame. Michael Caruso sent a pass to Drew Larman, who snapped a shot that beat Desjardins.
Glumac added his second goal of the game at 14:17 of the third stanza. While on the power play, Ben Maxwell received a pass from Sergei Kostitsyn before sending the puck to Glumac. Glumac fired a shot that beat Plante to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. With the assist, Kostitsyn extended his point streak to seven games.
David Brine scored the Amerks third shorthanded goal of the game at 17:43 of the third period. Brine skated into the Bulldogs' zone before using a deke to get past a Hamilton defender and fire a shot that beat Desjardins. Randall Gelech and Franklin MacDonald also earned assists on the play.
With the game tied the game went to overtime where nether team was able to score. In the shootout, Yanick Lehoux scored two goals including the game-winner in round six to lead the Bulldogs to victory.
The Bulldogs continue their five-game road trip on Tuesday, March 17th for a 8:05 p.m. EST. game against the Iowa Chops. for a game against the Rochester Americans at 6:05 p.m. Fans can listen to every âDogs game on the flagship station of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Network, TALK 820.
