PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Lowell Devils could not overcome two-goal games by both Zach Hamill and Jeff Penner as they fell to the Providence Bruins, 6-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

After Vladimir Zharkov hit the post on a wraparound attempt in the Providence zone, the Bruins came right back down the ice to take a 1-0 lead on Jeff Penner's long wrister at 6:39.

Six minutes later, Providence pushed its lead to two goals when Kirk McDonald's blind centering pass found Zach Hamill in front for a one-timer past Frazee.

Hamill struck again with 1:51 left in the first as he capitalized on a turnover in the Devils end, picking up a loose puck and tucking a forehander across the goal line to make the score, 3-0.

Though unable to convert of the power play in the first period, Providence was able to score twice in the second on man-advantage to go up by five goals. Penner notched his second of the game when he snuck in between the circles to accept Mikko Lehtonen and send a shot into the top corner at 3:15. Wacey Rabbit then deflected Jeremy Reich's point shot up and over the glove of Frazee at 9:40.

The Devils goalie would exit early for the second consecutive match with 14 saves over 29:40. Entering the game in relief, Dave Caruso couldn't stem the Bruins' tide as Jordan Knackstedt scored 1:22 later to give Providence a 6-0 lead.

Matt Halischuk provided the first goal for the Devils, batting in a rebound at 14:53 for his 12th of the season.

Lowell added another tally at 13:34 of the third on Jon DiSalvatore's 17th goal of the year.

The Lowell Devils finish their four-game road stretch on Wednesday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. against the Hartford Wolf Pack. For more information about individual tickets and group packages for Devils home games, call (978) 458-PUCK (7825) or log on to www.lowelldevilshockey.com.
