Rivermen, Peoria Civic Center Announce Upgrades to Carver Arena and New Zamboni

Peoria, IL (August 18, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen President/CEO Bart Rogers, in cooperation with Peoria Civic Center (PCC) General Manager Debbie Ritschel, announced today that new poly-acrylic rink glass and new yellow, dasher-board kick plate will be installed prior to the team's 2006-07 American Hockey League (AHL) season. In addition, the Peoria Civic Center has purchased a new Zamboni® Model 540 ice resurfacing machine.

"We're grateful to Debbie and her staff and the Civic Center Board Authority for these critical additions that provide a more enjoyable viewing experience for all of our fans, especially those in the Lower Bowl, and a top-notch ice surface for our world-class players," Rogers said. "As the Civic Center continues its renovation, scheduled for completion just over a year from now, they continue to make concerted and strong efforts to assist us in enhancing our on-and off-ice product through the building's physical properties and atmosphere. We, along with our loyal fans, can't wait for the renovated and expanded concession and food offerings, along with the other amenities that will make Rivermen Hockey even more of an entertainment destination for Central Illinois residents."

"The Peoria Rivermen organization and their fans and the Peoria Civic Center organization have been integral partners for over 17 years," Ritschel. "The Peoria Civic Center Authority and SMG management continue to work toward upgrades that help improve the hockey experience using carefully allocated annual Capital Funds. These specific hockey upgrades, combined with existing Arena women's restroom upgrades and recent Concourse and Arena bowl lighting improvements, will show our commitment to Rivermen fans."

"We all await the day when the Peoria Rivermen offices and team store are open in the redeveloped Peoria Civic Center in the coming months," Ritschel concluded.

According to PCC officials, the dasher-board kick plate, positioned at the base of the entire circumference of the dasher boards, has been installed; the rink glass is scheduled to arrive and be installed in the coming weeks; the ice is scheduled to be put in on September 13; the first practice is scheduled for September 21; and the new Zamboni®, which will be presented by Bathrooms Plus (www.bathsplus.com) for the next three seasons, is expected to arrive just prior to the start of the season.

Rivermen season ticket plans are on sale now with 1) a Full Season package (40 games), 2) the 25th Anniversary package (25 games), 3) a 12-game package, 4) a seven-game package and 5) undated voucher books (denominations of 20 vouchers). Packages start at just $75 per seat.
