Hershey Bears News Release
The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that they have selected five individuals to sing the national anthem prior to home games throughout the 2006-2007 season.
Chosen to perform The Star Spangled Banner are Amy Beniston of Annville, Erin Kelly of Allentown, Adrienne Howe of Lancaster, and Janelle Sowers of York. On select dates this season, the BEARS will rotate between the above four soloists. Chosen to perform OCanada is Michael Benson of Enola, which will be sung when the BEARS play against Hamilton, Manitoba, and Toronto. Local school choruses and past anthem soloists will perform the national anthem on the other open dates.
Performers were asked to provide an audio cassette or compact disc containing a rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America, and OCanada. The BEARS contacted 10 finalists and conducted a live audition in GIANT CenterSM on August 17.
Forty-one people sent a performance recording and the BEARS would like to thank all of those individuals for their interest.
