September 28, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release

The Peoria Rivermen have added a new community initiative for the 2010-11 season with their G.O.A.L.S for Good Character campaign. Led by Community Relations Coordinator Kari Gabbert, Rivermen players will visit area schools and host assemblies for students and educate them about the importance of good character.

Players will tell stories from their own experiences and how building and maintaining good character has had a positive impact on their lives. The main principles of the G.O.A.L.S campaign are:

. Getting along with others

. Overcoming obstacles

. Always having a good attitude

. Listening to others

. Showing good sportsmanship

The assembly is being given in both Tazewell and Peoria counties at schools to classes ranging in age from kindergarten through eighth. The program is free of charge to the school and will run approximately 30 minutes.

After each assembly the kids are then given a voucher good for free admission to a Rivermen home game in the month in which their assembly was given. The voucher will also be good for free admission of another child under the age of 16.

The following schools will be hosting assemblies between Oct. 5-6: Lincoln Grade School in Morton, Ridgeview Elementary School, Robein Grade School, Woodrow Wilson School, Roosevelt Magnet School, Peoria Academy, Northmoor-Edison Primary School, Lincoln Grade School in East Peoria, Wylder Waite School, Beverly Manor Elementary School, Norwood Primary School, and Wittier Primary School.

Anyone who would like more information or would like to schedule an assembly can contact Kari Gabbert at (309) 680-3810.

Season ticket packages are still on sale through the Rivermen office. Call (309) 676-1040 for more information or to reserve your seat for the upcoming season.
