
Rivermen End Road Trip with Shutout Win

Mike McKenna made 37 saves, Sergey Andronov added three assists and T.J. Hensick scored two goals as the Rivermen won 4-0 against the Rockford IceHogs Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. It was the second shutout of the season for McKenna as the team improved to 26-28-4-3 and finished 2-4-0-0 on their six-game road trip.
Andrew Murray, in his first game back with the Rivermen since late February, gave the Rivermen a 1-0 lead with 4:53 remaining in the first period. His 11th of the season beat Carter Hutton between the legs from Mark Cundari and Andronov.
Peoria took a 2-0 lead at the 9:02 mark of the second period. Andre Bouvet-Morrissette scored his first career AHL goal by taking a wrist shot that went over the glove of Hutton. Jani Lajunen and Cade Fairchild earned assists on the tally.
Hensick added two goals in the third period to increase Peoria's lead to 4-0. Hensick scored on a breakaway at 8:05. Hensick earned his 16th tally of the year on the power play at the 9:54 mark. Andronov assisted on both goals.
After a clean start the game, Rockford was assessed 44 minutes in penalties after the score turned 3-0. The Rivermen finished 1-for-6 on the power play while Rockford was 0-for-2.
The Rivermen will return home for a St. Patrick's Day celebration against Grand Rapids Sunday at 3:05 p.m. The team will wear green jerseys during the game that will be auctioned off postgame to benefit the Children's Hospital of Illinois. For tickets or information call 309-676-1040.
