Sound Tigers Eke by Devils 2-0

BRIDGEPORT, CT - For nearly 50 minutes, the Albany Devils Keith Kinkaid and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Rick DiPietro were locked in a goaltending battle. A neutral zone turnover followed by a shorthanded goal settled the stalemate and lifted the Sound Tigers to a 2-0 win Sunday at Webster Bank Arena.

Scott Campbell set up Brock Nelson, who netted the winner at 10:35 of the third frame. Racing down the left side, Nelson snapped a shot over the shoulder of Kinkaid, who appeared in his third straight game.

Bridgeport's Nino Niederreiter added to his team's lead at 18:03 of the third.

Kinkaid finished with 41 saves on 43 shots and is now 18-12-5. At the other end, DiPietro had 33 stops in his first shutout, improving to 4-3-0-0.

The Devils, who lost 6-2 last night at Syracuse, dropped their second consecutive game for the first time since Feb. 17 and Feb. 18. Albany goes to 27-22-1-10, while Bridgeport improves to 26-25-6-4.

Game Notes

- Chad Wiseman appeared in his 600th career AHL game. Since 2001-02, he has registered 171 goals and 257 assists for 428 points. This year, Wiseman has played 33 games, producing three goals and eight assists for 11 points.

- Keith Kinkaid played in his third consecutive for his 37th appearance of the season.

- Joe Whitney had his six game point streak halted and Matt Anderson had his four game streak stopped.

- During the game, New Jersey announced Stefan Matteau was assigned to Blainville-Boisbriand (QMJHL).
