Rivermen at IceHogs tonight
January 23, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release
The Peoria Rivermen heads to Rockford tonight to challenge the IceHogs at 7:05 pm in a game that pits two of the top three teams in the West Division head-to-head.
Rockford enters the game on a six-game win streak, something Peoria is familiar with as they are only two games removed from a nine-game streak of their own. The IceHogs own the division lead with a record of 28-9-3-5 and 64 points, compared to Peoria's 24-13-4-3 mark and 55 points, placing them third in the division.
Peoria has not appeared at the Rockford MetroCentre yet this season, but comes in carrying a 15-4-2-1 road mark. The four road losses are second only to the Providence Bruins in the entire AHL this season.
"We know that after our streak, teams are going to be gunning for us just like they do for Chicago and Rockford," said Rivermen head coach Dave Baseggio. "We've played our way up there and now we have to keep performing."
Peoria will once again be without captain Aaron MacKenzie, out for the second straight game with an undisclosed injury. The club is also missing Mike Glumac and Yan Stastny, both of whom are on recall to the St. Louis Blues for tonight's game.
If you aren't making the drive to Rockford, take in the game live anyway via the B2 video broadcast of tonight's game through www.rivermen.net. Cost for the feed is just $6 per game and season passes are available through the B2 web site as well. Look for the offer on B2 Networks' broadcast page.
