Chicago Wolves News Release

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled left wing BRETT STERLING and center JIM SLATER from the Chicago Wolves.

STERLING made his National Hockey League debut with the Thrashers earlier this season, notching three points (2G, A) and 12 penalty minutes in 10 outings, which includes his first career NHL goal on Oct. 20 at Tampa Bay. The 23-year-old forward leads the Wolves and is tied for third in the American Hockey League with 22 goals and shares third on Chicago with 38 points in 34 games this year.

The Los Angeles native was selected to the starting lineup for the PlanetUSA All-Star team in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic in Binghamton, N.Y., which begins with the skills competition on Sunday. The 2007 AHL Rookie of the Year, STERLING ranks seventh on Chicago's all-time goal scoring list with 77 markers in 111 tilts, which includes a league-high 55 last season. He has racked up 135 points during his two seasons of work in a Wolves uniform, which includes ranking third in the AHL with 97 points during his professional debut in 2006-07.

SLATER was assigned to Chicago by the Thrashers for conditioning on Jan. 16 and was held scoreless in three contests last weekend. The 25-year-old forward has collected 29 assists, 44 points and 133 penalty minutes in 183 career NHL contests spanning three seasons with Atlanta (2005 to 2008), which includes tallying five assists in 38 games this year. SLATER was selected by the Thrashers in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
