Rivermen Announce Christian Concert, Entire Promotional Calendar

September 9, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, Ill. (September 9, 2004) – President/General Manager Bart Rogers of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that the team will host a post-game Christian concert, presented by Berean Bookstore, on Saturday, December 11 with ZOEgirl and Tree63 performing. The team has also released the entire promotional schedule for the 2004-2005 season, which includes a second, to-be-announced Christian concert on March 5 along with Circle K Team Photo Night (first 6,000 fans).

ZOEgirl, whose musical focus is the exploration of difficult issues facing today's teenage girls, is supporting its fourth release in four years with Different Kind of FREE. The Sparrow Records recording artists have tackled culturally pervasive themes such as self-esteem, eating disorders, suicide, and teen sex, striking a powerful chord with a vulnerable generation, while selling more than one million career units to date. Over their tenure as a group, ZOEgirl has also engaged in international mission trips to Ecuador and Venezuela, including street ministry, community outreach and orphanage visits.

Tree63, formed in South Africa eight years ago and supporting their third project – The Answer to the Question, will perform as the opening act for ZOEgirl. The band received a Dove Award for their self-titled debut album in 1999.

There is a $5 up charge on all regular-priced tickets for all post-game concert nights. WPPY 98.5 FM (Hope – Today's Christian Music) is the exclusive media partner for the concert.

Rogers said Christian concerts have consistently developed large audiences over the past seasons.

"We're excited to be able to make it happen with two Christian concerts this year," Rogers said. "We've found that many of our loyal hockey fans, area Christian youth groups, churches and other organizations really enjoy the popular Christian acts we're able to bring to the table. We're confident ZOEgirl and Tree63 are going to put on a first class show along with our March 5 group."
