Experienced defenseman returns to Inferno

COLUMBIA, SC (September 9, 2004) - The Columbia Inferno announce the return and signing of veteran defenseman Trevor Demmans for the 2004-2005 season. Demmans joins teammates Sean Owens, Mike Roemensky, Aaron Smith, Walker McDonald, Robin Carruthers, Greg Amadio, Bryson Busniuk and Matt Ulwelling as the ninth player signed by the Inferno this season.

The 29-year-old, 6'1 and 200 lbs. native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan spent last season overseas in Germany where he recorded 9 goals, 22 assists and 91 penalty minutes in 35 games. In the 2002-03 season, Demmans was acquired by the Inferno from the Baton Rouge Kingfish and played 15 games recording 12 points (2g-10a). During the playoff run in 2003, he notched 3 goals and 10 assists.

"Inferno fans should remember Trevor and his play in 2003. He is an experienced defenseman who brings an overabundance of leadership on and off the ice," said Head Coach Scott White. "He is going to log some minutes and aid in the developing of our d-corps. On behalf of the Inferno I welcome Trevor and his family back to the Midlands."

Demmans has seen time around the ECHL, playing for the Wheeling Nailers (1997-99), Pee Dee Pride (1999-2001), Long Beach Ice Dogs (WCHL 2001-02) and the Baton Rouge Kingfish (1997-98, 2002-03).

The Inferno open the 2004-2005 season on Friday, October 22nd at 7:30pm hosting the South Carolina Stingrays. Season tickets, partial season packages and group tickets are now available by calling 256-7825.
