
O'Connor and MacKay added to the mix

SAN DIEGO â The San Diego Gulls have signed right-winger Sean O'Connor and goaltender Tyler MacKay, head coach Martin St. Amour announced on Thursday. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
O'Connor comes to the Gulls after splitting time with the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage and ECHL's Augusta Lynx last season. In 28 games for San Antonio, O'Connor scored one goal and amassed 88 penalty minutes. In 19 games for Augusta, he netted seven points (3g, 4a) and accumulated 79 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-3-inch, 203-pound native of Victoria, British Columbia began his professional career in 2002-03, splitting the season with San Antonio and the ECHL's Jackson Bandits. In 49 games with Jackson, O'Connor scored a career high 23 points (12g, 11a) while amassing a career high 149 penalty minutes. In four games for San Antonio, he registered zero points and four penalty minutes. Before turning pro, O'Connor spent three years playing juniors in the Western Hockey League.
MacKay joins San Diego after playing the last three years for the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers. Last season, his best as a professional, MacKay appeared in 26 games for Wheeling, accumulating a 17-5-2 record with a 2.24 goals-against-average, .921 save percentage and four shutouts.
In 2002-03 the 5-foot-11-inch, 165-pounder from Deschambault, Saskatchewan split time between Wheeling and the United Hockey League's Adirondack IceHawks. With the Nailers, MacKay posted an 11-12-0 record with a 3.43 GAA and .904 save percentage. With Adirondack, he posted a 5-9-0 record with a 3.62 GAA and .877 save percentage. During his 2001-02 rookie season, MacKay went 16-12-1 with a 2.83 GAA and .920 save percentage.
With O'Connor and MacKay signed, the Gulls' roster now officially has 16 players.
The Gulls open their second season in the ECHL Friday, Oct. 22 in Long Beach and open their home schedule Saturday, Oct. 23 against Fresno. Season ticket packages are currently on sale.
