Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (September 7, 2004) - The Trenton Titans announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Andy Burnes for the 2004-05 season. Per club policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We're very fortunate to be getting a former captain from the University of Michigan," said Mike Havliand, Titans Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations. "Andy's a solid defenseman from a solid hockey program and he should really help our backline."
Burnes, 23, joins the professional ranks after a four-year career with the Wolverines. In 158 games, he totaled 4 goals, 20 assists, 148 penalty minutes and a +36 plus/minus rating. Burnes was also named the 83rd captain in University of Michigan history prior to his senior season in 2003-04.
Following the completion of the 2003-04 season, Burnes was signed by the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. The native Battle Creek, Michigan appeared in two games but did not record a point. Burnes becomes the twenty-first player to sign with the Titans for 2003-04.
