Falcons Sign Pair of Offensive Stalwarts

September 9, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons have signed center Dan Tessier and right winger Chris Paradise to contracts, bringing the team's roster total to 15 for the upcoming 2004-05 season.

Tessier spent the first half of last season with the American Hockey League's Toronto Roadrunners before averaging more than a point per game with the ECHL's Columbus Cottonmouths over the second half. The Ottawa, Ontario, native captained the Ottawa 67's to the 1998-99 Memorial Cup and finished his four-year career with his hometown junior team with an impressive 282 points (125g-157a) in 255 games. He spent his rookie pro campaign in the ECHL with the Louisiana IceGators before playing in Holland and Germany in 2001-02 and 2002-03, respectively.

Paradise parlayed a strong collegiate career at the University of Denver, where he netted a combined 39 goals during his junior and senior seasons, into a free agent contract with the Boston Bruins organization. He played more than half of his rookie campaign in 2002-03 with the AHL's Providence Bruins before injuries limited him to just 17 games played with the Rockford IceHogs of the United Hockey League last year.

"Dan and Chris are two guys that are going to score some points for us this season," said Falcons General Manager Blaine Moore. "There are certain key positions you try to build a team around and a number one center is one of them. Dan Tessier is that guy for us. He has tremendous speed, is a good leader, and with a full season at this level, he's capable of being in the top five in the league in scoring.

"Chris certainly has the potential and we expect him to be one of our offensive leaders this season," continued Moore. "He had a good rookie season and a stellar college career and he's versatile - he can play center, wing and even a little D."

Fresno will battle the Bakersfield Condors in a home-and-home pre-season series on Oct. 15 and 16 before opening the 2004-05 ECHL regular season on Oct. 22 against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Save Mart Center. Full season ticket packages and Flex Packs are on sale beginning as low as $42.
