SOUTHAVEN---The Memphis RiverKings, still one below the allowed active roster limit, filled that spot by signing Travis Banga off waivers on Tuesday. Banga had been released by the Kansas City Outlaws of the United Hockey League after playing in three games and going scoreless. The 25-year-old, 5 foot-11, 186 pound native of High River, ALB was a prolific scorer for Division Three New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire for three seasons.

He started his collegiate career with limited action at Division One University of New Hampshire before he transferred to N.E.C. for the 2001-2002 season. Banga finished his career at N.E.C. with 128 points and 64 goals in 70 games for an average of 1.8 points per game and just under a goal a game. In the 02-03 season with the Pilgrims, he averaged more than a goal per game and two points per game with 29 and 50 respectively.

He definitely knows how to score said RiverKings Head Coach Mark Richards. We are looking to add some more offense and you cant ignore this kids numbers in college

Banga has joined the team and will be in uniform for the game tonight at Topeka. The puck drops tonight at 7:05 at the Kansas ExpoCentre with the pregame show beginning at 6:50 on Sports56 WHBQ and via the Sports56 link on the riverkings.com home page.
