Blood Drive Big Success

LAREDO, Texas – Over the Thanksgiving weekend the Laredo Bucks partnered with the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center and the LEC on their first annual blood drive. More than 100 pints of blood were collected this past Friday, which translates to more than 300 lives saved. Every person who donated blood last Friday received a ticket to the Bucks game the next night. They also received a special Give Blood Play Hockey T-Shirt.

"The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center relies on every community throughout South Texas to help sustain an adequate blood supply for patients in need," said Carmen Davila, Director of Community Relations. She continued to say "Without the help and support of such communities like Laredo we would not be able to collect the blood for patients in need. A tremendous thank you is deserved to the people of Laredo for their volunteer efforts."

All blood donors were entered in a drawing to win Laredo Bucks related prizes. Fernando Ortega was selected to perform the ceremonial face off prior to the Bucks game on Saturday and also received an autographed Bucks jersey. Ana Lilia Martinez received an autographed picture of the 2003-04 CHL Champion Laredo Bucks.
