RiverKings Felled By Mavericks Again

INDEPENDENCE, MO --- Tyler Kindle's third period power play goal was the deciding factor in the Missouri Mavericks' 5-4 victory over the Mississippi RiverKings in Central Hockey League action on Saturday, January 16th, in Independence, Missouri.

The goal settled a see-saw battle in the final period that had the RiverKings tie the game on two occasions before Kindle took advantage of an opportunity to score his goal of the season with just over four minutes remaining in regulation time.

For the RiverKings, goals were scored by Anders Strome, Louis Dumont, Ryan Campbell, and Kevin Truelson. Matt Summers, Derek Landmesser, and Darrell Stoddard earned assists on the night.

Jeff Christian led the offensive attack for Missouri with two goals and two assists. Bill Vandermeer and Brett Hammond had two-point nights for Missouri.

Kevin Beech took the loss for the RiverKings with a 21-save, five-goal effort. Alexandre Vincent was the winning goaltender for Missouri with a 30-save, four-goal performance.

Both teams scored once on the power play, but Hammond's goal came shorthanded.

Mississippi outshot the Mavericks 34-26.

With the loss, Mississippi fell to 17-15-4 on the season, while Missouri moved to 17-16-3 on the year.

Missouri hosts Allen Thursday night, but then travels to Mississippi for a pair of games next Friday and Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center. Game time both nights is 7:05 PM.
