Bucks Robbed By Ice Rays 1-0

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Corpus Christi Ice Rays 1-0 Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks fall four points behind Texas in the Southern Conference as their record stands at 16-12-7 (39 points).

Kevin Nastiuk picked up his second straight shutout against the Bucks as he stopped all 35 shots he faced. Nastiuk stopped all 20 shots he faced in last Saturday's 3-0 shutout win.

Kevin Desfosses suffered the hard luck loss as he set aside 31 of 32 shots he faced in net. Desfosses stopped 38 of 40 shots in his Bucks debut in Friday's 6-2 win.

Chad Costello picked up the lone goal of the game with 8:49 left in the third period when he scored on an odd man rush in the Laredo zone. The Ice Rays goal came immediately after the Ice Rays got away with a blatent high sticking call right in front of their own net.

The Bucks pulled Desfosses for the final 1:42 of the game to try and tie the game and had a two-man advantage for the last 1:19 thanks to a Corpus penalty but failed to score.

Laredo is now winless in their last five games against the Ice Rays (0-4-1).

Desfosses stopped a penalty shot by Ryan Garbutt just 2:07 into the third period to keep the game scoreless.

Neither team was able to light the lamp in the first period as the game was scoreless after 20 minutes. The Bucks outshot the Ice Rays in the first period 9-8.

The second period was also scoreless as each team could not capitalize on separate breakaway attempts. Both the Bucks and Ice Rays had breakaway opportunities in the period but failed to score. Laredo was outshot in the second period 15-12.

The Bucks outshot the Ice Rays 35-32.

Laredo went 0-for-six on the power-play and is now 11-for-64 in their last seven games with the man advantage.

Justin Styffe was injured in the second period when he skated into the post after attempting a shot on goal. Styffe left the game.
