Mississippi RiverKings News Release

(Bossier City, LA) -- The Mississippi RiverKings winning streak was extended to eleven games Saturday night with a 6-2 conquest of division rival Bossier-Shreveport at the CenturyTel Center. It equals Odessa's 11-game string for the longest winning streak in the Central Hockey League season, a mark the RiverKings can break Sunday when they play at Odessa.

Mississippi took the first period lead on a pair of goals. David Simoes scored in a scramble in front of the Bossier-Shreveport net at 10:15 for a 1-0 lead. That was followed by Stephen Margeson's blast in the slot off a pass from Louis Dumont for his eighth goal of the year and a 2-0 lead after one period of play.

The RiverKings added to the margin in the second period with a power play goal from Martin Gascon at 37 seconds of the period, an unassisted goal from Jeff Alcombrack at 3:48, and a goal from Dallas Costanzo at 11:17 for a 5-0 lead after two periods.

In the third period, Bossier-Shreveport scored twice to cut the margin on goals from Chris Brassard and Neil Clark, but Louis Dumont's empty-net goal with 46 seconds remained settled the matter with the final result of 6-2.

Mississippi out shot the Mudbugs for the night by a 38-26 margin. Kevin Beech (33-10-3) won his ninth in a row and is now 13-0-2 in his last 15 decisions with a 24-save effort. Ken Carroll played the first 31 minutes of the game, allowing five goals before taking himself out for Jon Horrell. Carroll fell to 18-6-2 with the loss, allowing five goals and making 18 saves.

The RiverKings next play the Jackalopes in Odessa Sunday afternoon, beginning at 4:05 PM Central Daylight Time. Mississippi returns home to play Bossier-Shreveport in a two-game home series March 13th and 14th at 7:05 PM each night in the DeSoto Civic Center.
