Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
Washington, Pa - The Columbus Crew (4-4-2) of Major League Soccer will visit Washington County to take on the Riverhounds FC (1-1-4) in an exhibition match on August 8 according to Riverhounds' officials.
"We're glad they've decided to return to Falconi Field," said Ross Vecchio, general manager of the Riverhounds. "When the Crew was in town last year, we had a lot of enthusiasm. It's good for the fans, and it's great for our team."
The Crew, who traveled to Falconi Field on August 10, 2005 to face the Riverhounds in an exhibition, battled the HOUNDS® to a scoreless tie in front of nearly 3,200 fans.
The match brings the total of home matches for the Riverhounds to 11 for the 2006 season. "Even though it's an exhibition, we'll probably have one of our largest crowds," added Vecchio. "People will be anxious to see Major League Soccer so close to home...especially this year because of the interest in the World Cup."
First kick for the exhibition match is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The Riverhounds moved to Washington County in 2005 to make Falconi Field their home field. They played at Bethel Park High School Stadium from 1999 - 2003 and in 2004 home matches were contested at Moon Township High School.
Tickets for the Crew match are available at the Falconi Field Box Office and on line at www.riverhounds.com.
