Cincinnati Kings News Release
PITTSBURGH (June 10) -- The Cincinnati Kings and Pittsburgh Riverhounds battled to a 2-2 tie Saturday night in United Soccer Leagues Second Division action at Pittsburgh's Falconi Field, the Riverhounds' fifth tie of the season.
The Kings held a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal by Jack Cummings at the 38th minute mark. The Riverhounds had an earlier goal waived off by an offsides call.
The Riverhounds opened the second half more aggressively on offense, and it paid off with a goal off a header by Gabe Bernstein from a corner kick in the 56th minute. Cody Bragg was credited with the assist. Pittsburgh then took the lead, 2-1, eight minutes later when midfielder Derek MacKenzie scored his first goal of the season, with the assist again from Bragg.
The lead was short-lived, though, as the Kings rallied to tie the game 25 seconds later off a goal from Nowaf Jaman. The game ended in the 2-2 tie, even though both teams had numerous late scoring opportunities.
The Riverhounds outshot the Kings, 15-9.
The Kings are now 3-3-2. Pittsbugh now stands at 1-1-5.
The Kings return home next Saturday, June 17 at 7 p.m. against the second place Charlotte Eagles at the Xavier University Soccer Complex. Fans can still register at next Saturday's game to be part of the Kings World Cup interactive contest.
