EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Four Evansville pitchers combined on a two-hitter as the Otters beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 2-1, on Friday at Bosse Field.

The Otters snapped a three-game losing streak at the expense of Rockford's season-best three-game winning streak.

Just two Rockford runners reach scoring position. The RiverHawks manufactured their lone run in the fourth inning without a hit. Dave Cooper walked, stole second base and third and scored on Jake Eigsti's groundout.

The RiverHawks did not get a runner past first base after the sixth inning. Nine in a row went down in order - six on strikes - from the sixth through ninth innings. Evansville starter Scott Kelley (2-4) held the RiverHawks to two hits over 6 1/3 innings. Setup man Patrick Crider struck out all three he faced and Ryne Purcell didn't allow a ball to be hit past the mound. Closer Eric Massingham walked Eigsti with two outs in the ninth, but picked up his seventh save.

Evansville, held to six hits, scored both its runs in the sixth inning. Rockford starter Brett Scarpetta gave up three straight one-out singles. Mike Durant singled in the tying run and scored the go-ahead run on Troy Frazier's sacrifice fly to left field. Scarpetta (3-2) gave up six hits over seven innings and took the loss.

The series continues at 6:35 p.m. Saturday. The RiverHawks' next home game is at 7:05 p.m. July 21, when they host Washington on a Miller Lite/RBI's Thirsty Thursday.
