Wild Things Blank Grizzlies in One-Run Game

WASHINGTON, PA - Washington starter Casey Barnes threw a complete game two-hit shutout and outdueled Gateway starter Mark Brackman in a 1-0 Wild Things victory on Friday night at Consol Energy Park. The loss was the fourth in a row for Gateway. The game took one hour and fifty minutes, which is the quickest game of the season for Gateway.

Barnes (3-3) struck out five and walked just one, while notching his first shutout in his professional career. Brackman (6-3) went the distance for the third time this season, surrendering eight hits and giving up just the one run, striking out six and walking one.

After six and a half scoreless innings, the Wild Things notched three singles in the seventh and Ryan Ditthardt drove in Estee Harris to give the Wild Things a 1-0 lead. Brackman struck out Kevyn Feiner with the bases loaded to end the inning and the threat.

Kent Gerst and Charlie Lisk had the only hits for Gateway, both singles.

The Grizzlies and Wild Things resume their three game series on Saturday night in Washington. Blake Barber (0-2) gets the start for Gateway. First is set for 5:35 CT.
