LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks today announced they have placed shortstop Brad Dutton on the disabled list and signed infielder Joe Besl.
Dutton was placed on the 14-day DL because of a strain in his upper right hamstring. The true rookie was 1-for-12 with a RBI. Dutton left Wednesday's game at Gateway in the bottom of the eighth inning because of the injury.
Besl is a true rookie out of Division II Concord University, located in Athens, W. Va. He hit .422 with 12 home runs and 67 RBI for the Mountain Lions this spring. He was a four-year starter at shortstop.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league in its 14th season.
