LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks announced Saturday that they have signed rookie catcher Phil Cahill and sent catcher Ben Blumenthal to the 14-day disabled list with a season-ending oblique injury. They have also released pitcher George Rasiarmos from the DL.
Cahill hit .157 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 31 games this spring at Siena College.
Blumenthal hit .201 with seven home runs and 23 RBI in 56 games for the RiverHawks. He had a league-high 18 passed balls and threw out 16 of 66 attempted base-stealers (24 percent).
