Gateway Grizzlies News Release
The Gateway Grizzlies and River City Rascals split a day-night, split-city double-header Saturday, with each team winning in their home ballpark. The Grizzlies got a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning by Charlie Lisk to take the opener 10-7 at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, IL. River City held on for a 4-3 win in the night cap at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, MO.
The walk off home run for Lisk was his second of the game and his 26th of the season. Lisk is now third all time on the Frontier League home run list with 66 for his career.
Brandon Peters and Breck Draper also homered for the Grizzlies in a game that saw the two teams combine for eight long balls. Draper finished 2-3 with two RBIs while Peters finished the game 2-4.
Chris Wiman (4-1) earned the win in relief for the Grizzlies. Wiman tossed the final 3.2 innings for his first win a Grizzlies uniform. He struck out five.
The Grizzlies (37-52) scored three times in the top of the ninth inning in game two but left runners at first and third when the game ended. Alex Kerins and Breck Draper each picked up RBIs in the ninth inning. Draper finished 2-4 with the RBI.
Paige Dumont suffered the loss despite tossing his second complete-game of the year. He allowed four runs and struck out eight.
Jake Laber earned the win for River City (50-37). Laber shutout the Grizzlies through eight innings, but was charged with all three runs in the ninth.
The Grizzlies and Rascals will conclude the series Sunday evening at T.R. Hughes Ballpark. First pitch is slated for 6:01 pm.
