Charleston RiverDogs News Release

The Charleston RiverDogs' "Be Your Own Fan" mantra is going bilingual, however all fans are invited out to Riley Park on Saturday, July 24 from 5-10 p.m. for a much more visceral ballpark experience than a normal game day.

The RiverDogs' faithful are encouraged to take their "Be Your Own Fan" experience beyond borders and come to a better understanding and appreciation of the unique "Latino" perspective on the game with special content on display and ballpark contests throughout the evening. Those in attendance will even be allowed access to various parts of the playing field and engage in baseball related activities.

"We see such strong support for RiverDogs Baseball in our community and we're excited to show our thanks by giving fans the chance to experience this great game from a different and special perspective," said General Manager Dave Echols. "This should be an entertaining event for the entire family with a lot of hands-on, baseball-oriented fun."

Produced and coordinated by The Reel Hardball and the RiverDogs, the highlight of the various activities will be the Fungoman Challenge, in which a machine hits "fungo" ground balls to players. Additional activities include hitting in the batting cage, swing and pitching analyses, sponsor marketing booths that include the MLB Network, Golden Corral Restaurants and the Baseball Hall of Fame, among many others. Prizes include an X-Box 360.

Upon completion of the Fungoman Challenge, the event will transition into multiple pockets of opportunity for fans to interact with product, purchase merchandise or stadium concessions, and enjoy content featured on the videoboard, courtesy of MLB Network, "Be Your Own Fan" TV and Reel Hardball.

Each event will have a concentrated marketplace (or "el Mercado") consisting of sponsor setups and interactive product opportunities, as well as a production element of themed interviews shot with fans to be featured as individual (2-3 minute) segments during future MLB Network programming. "El Mercado" will support the event infrastructure by featuring spicy Latin music while offering Latin-oriented food such as Cuban sandwiches.

Another highlight will be the viewing on the videoboard of "Spaceman: A Baseball Odyssey," a documentary about former Major League player, Bill "The Spaceman" Lee and his ventures on and off the baseball field, including his affection for the people of Cuba and their love of baseball.

Fans will be able to enjoy the documentaries on the outfield grass, grandstand, or other location within the park.

Two more of The Goldklang Group's teams - the Hudson Valley (NY) Renegades and the St. Paul (MN) Saints - will also participate in the experience.
