SALISBURY, MD - RHP Braden Tullis and LHP Joseph Ortiz combined to toss the Hickory Crawdads 11th shutout of the season and fourth already of the second half, blanking the Delmarva Shorebirds, 2-0, before 4,029 fans at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Monday evening.

Tullis (2-0) started the game and dealt the first five scoreless frames, scattering just four hits and issuing two walks while striking out four. Ortiz entered to start the sixth and dealt four perfect frames in relief, striking out seven and not allowing a single baserunner.

Hickory (7-5, 47-35) cracked the scoreless tie in the top of the third with a two-out RBI single to left-center to bring in LF Joe Bonadonna from third and make it 1-0.

The 'Dads doubled their lead against Delmarva (4-7, 36-45) in the top of the eighth, when 1B Mike Ortiz led off the frame with a solo home run over the right field wall off reliever RHP James Brandhorst, accounting for the 2-0 final score.

Tullis registered the win and Ortiz logged the save, while Delmarva starter RHP Matt Hobgood (3-7) was tagged with the loss.

The team will return home on Thursday, July 8 to host the Greensboro Grasshoppers for five games, including Friday Night Fireworks on July 9th and an appearance from former WWF wrestler "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan on Saturday, July 10! Fans can have the opportunity to sit, eat, and chat with Duggan during a special VIP meet and greet before the game. The buffet portion of the event will begin at 6 p.m., with a question and answer session running from 6:15 - 6:45 p.m. Fans who wish to participate in this exciting opportunity can do so for just $20 (price includes game ticket)!

On Sunday, July 11, the first 1,000 kids through the gates will receive FREE Webkinz! Come on out early to L.P. Frans for a faith-based service presented by WLON 1050AM beginning at 3:30 p.m. It's also Bark at the Ballpark, with fans encouraged to bring their canine companions with them to the 5 p.m. ballgame.
