RiverDogs Play Four Games at Home this Week

The Richmond RiverDogs are now 17-13-1, after going 0-3 last week. The ‘Dogs are in third place in the Eastern Conference, six points behind Flint and seven points behind Columbus with two games in hand on both. The ‘Dogs continue a 10 game homestand this week with four games in five nights at the Coliseum

THE WEEK AHEAD (ALL TIMES EASTERN)

Tuesday, January 6 vs. Elmira 7:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The seventh of 18 meetings and the third of 10 here. Richmond is 4-2 vs. Elmira, 2-0 here. J.J. Wrobel has five points vs. the Jackals. Don Smith has seven points vs. the ‘Dogs. Richmond is 1-27 on the power play vs. Elmira. Jackals are in a fourth place tie, two points behind the ‘Dogs.

Wednesday, January 7 vs. Elmira 7:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The eighth of 18 meetings and the fourth of 10 here. It is the fifth of six straight at Richmond in the season series. It is game four of a six game Jackals road trip.

Friday, January 9 vs. Flint 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The sixth of eight meetings and the third of four here. Richmond is 2-3 vs. the Generals, 1-1 in Richmond. Kevin St. Jacques and Jay Murphy have six points vs. Flint. Martin Woods has eight points vs. the ‘Dogs. Flint is out-scoring Richmond 10-2 in the third period.

Saturday, January 10 vs. Flint 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The seventh of eight meetings and the fourth and final here this season. The third of a seven game road trip for the Generals. Flint opens the week with a three game winning streak.

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead only to see the Stars erupt for five goals in under four minutes in the first period. Nick Bootland had his second hat trick against Richmond this season. The ‘Dogs out-shot the Stars 46-29. Kevin St. Jacques scored twice for Richmond.

Friday, January 2 vs. Kalamazoo LOSS 5-2

GAME NOTES: The Wings scored three goals in under four minutes late in the first period to snap a 1-1 tie. The two clubs combined for seven power play goals. Andrew Luciuk had two goals and an assist for the Wings. Jeff Turner scored twice. The Wings were 5-10 on the power play.

Saturday, January 3 vs. Kalamazoo LOSS 4-2

GAME NOTES: The Wings earned their fourth straight road win. Jeff Turner put the Wings ahead to stay with a power play goal early in the second period. Mark Vilneff scored a third period goal from his own end to help put the game out of reach. The ‘Dogs out-shot the Wings 32-30.

DOG BITES: Three RiverDogs were named to the UHL Eastern Conference All Star team for the Comcast 2004 UHL All Star Classic on January 18 in Ft. Wayne. Kevin St. Jacques, Jay Murphy, and J.J. Wrobel will represent the ‘Dogs. The 'Dogs have lost four straight games in regulation for the first time this season. They are winless in their last seven games. The 'Dogs have scored power play goals in three straight games. 10 of the 'Dogs 13 losses have been by three or more goals. The 'Dogs have allowed 11 power play goals in their last four games. The eight goals scored by Columbus Wednesday is the most allowed by the 'Dogs this season. Richmond equaled a season high with 46 shots on goal vs. the Stars Wednesday. Richmond is 0-4-1 on a 10 game homestand. The 'Dogs play four games in five nights, all at home, this week. Since hitting a high-water mark of 10 games over .500 with a 14-4 record on 12/6, Richmond is 3-9-1. The 'Dogs are 10-5 on the road and 7-8-1 at home. The 'Dogs have been held to three or fewer goals in nine of their last 10 games. St. Jacques and Wrobel are tied for 19th in the UHL in scoring. Wrobel is tied for the league lead in game-wining-goals. He is on the 7-Day IR. Jeremy Wray is fourth in shooting percentage. Richmond leads the UHL in penalty minutes. They are second in majors. The ‘Dogs lost in regulation when scoring first for the first time this season Wednesday vs. Columbus.

· The ‘Dogs will try to break the UHL attendance record on Saturday, January 10 vs. Flint. All fans will receive a free t-shirt. Upper bowl tickets will be available for $7.50, including the Coliseum user fee.
