Stars Grab Four All-Star Spots

COLUMBUS, OH – The United Hockey League today released the teams for their annual All-Star Game to be held Sunday, January 18 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, IN.

Star's head coach and director of hockey operations Malcolm Cameron will lead the Eastern Conference team from behind the bench. Cameron earned the honor by leading his first-year member club to the best winning percentage in the Eastern Conference through the games of December 31, 2003. Cameron is a native of Cole Harbour, NS and is responsible for all player-personel decisions for the 19-10-9 Stars.

The players were selected by a process of coaches' nomination and then balloting by member clubs media and front office staffs from the list of nominees. The fans are now asked to choose the game's starters by on-line ballot at www.theuhl.com.

Stars captain Nick Bootland leads the four Stars selections with 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points. Bootland captains Columbus, has four game-winning goals and the team is 9-3 when he scores a goal. Bootland is a native of Shelbourne, ON and is in his fifth pro season.

Evan Cheverie is making his second pro season count. The centerman from Cole Harbour, NS has 10 goals and a team-leading 26 assists for 36 points, placing him second on the team in scoring. Cheverie notched the Stars' first ever hat trick and has had multiple three-assist games this season. Cheverie is currently on loan to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL.

Rookie defenseman Jasmin Gelinas is among the leaders for rookies and defensemen when it comes to power play points. The Drummondville, PQ native leads all UHL first year players in power play assists (8) and power play points (11).

Greg Hewitt has been one of the league's top netminders all season. Hewitt ranks second in goals against average (2.43), has a 13-6-3 record and a save percentage of 91.4%. The London, ON native has had AHL stints with Cleveland and Milwaukee.
