Columbus Stars News Release
Tonight's Columbus Stars game at the Brickhouse will feature two of the league's top goal-scorers, as well as two of the top shot-blockers.
Last Game: After a 1-0 2nd period Columbus lead evaporated into a 1-1 tie before the end of the stanza, Paul Dunphy and Jasmin Gelinas put the puck in the back of the net twice in the third period, giving the Stars a 3-1 victory. Greg Hewitt had 43 saves out of 44 shots, while Jeff Reynaert saved 33 of 36 shot attempts. Jason Sessa scored the lone goal for the Mallards, with Dan Watson tallying the first goal for the Stars.
Putting It in The Back of the Net: Nick Bootland (Columbus, 20) and Jason Sessa (Quad City, 20) are among the league leaders with 20 goals each coming into tonight's contest. However, both might have trouble finding the back of the net, as the league's top two minute-qualifiers in save percentage, Columbus's Greg Hewitt (.914) and Quad City's Jeff Reynaert (.915), will take their positions between the pipes.
Stat to Watch: Greg Hewitt will have to be on his blades (toes) throughout the game, even when the Stars have the man-advantage. The Mallards lead the UHL with eight short-handed goals, while the Stars have allowed a league-low 2 short-handed goals.
