Rivera Becomes 14th Duck to Have Contract Purchased

Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks today announced the contract of infielder T.J. Rivera has been purchased by Washington Nationals organization. He will report to the team's Double-A affiliate in Harrisburg, Pa. Rivera becomes the 14th member of the 2019 Ducks roster to have his contract purchased by a Major League or foreign organization.
Rivera played in 23 games with the Ducks. He compiled a .270 batting average with four home runs, 16 RBIs, 12 runs, 24 hits, two doubles and seven walks. The former Major Leaguer hit safely in 16 of the 23 games he played in and reached base safely in 19 of the 23. He also totaled six multi-hit games and four multi-RBI contests with the Ducks. Defensively, the Bronx, N.Y. native did not commit a single error in the field while spending time at third base, second and first. At the time of his departure, Rivera had homered in two of his past six games and three of his past nine contests.
