The Sound Tigers' record drops to 7-3-0-1 while Albany improves to 2-5-1-1.
Haskins gave the Sound Tigers the 1-0 lead on a terrific individual effort that saw him out-work an Albany defenseman and back-hand a shot through the legs of Peters for his second goal of the season. Mark Wotton and Mannino each had an assist on the play coming with just under four minutes to play in the first period. The assist was Mannino's first as a pro.
In the second period, Parrish would snap home his first goal this season coming 5:22 into the frame. Kurtis McLean came in over the River Rats' blue-line and whistled a pass to Parrish at the top of the right circle. Parrish looked up and picked his spot over Peters' glove, giving the Sound Tigers a 2-0 lead. Wotton collected his second assist of the game on the play. The Sound Tigers would make it 3-0 just over a minute later when Kohn fired a slap-shot on goal that redirected off Albany defenseman Bryan Rodney in front for his first marker of the season. Andrew MacDonald and Blake Comeau had the helpers on the tally. The River Rats would get on the board with two minutes remaining in the middle frame when Carson slid his first goal of the season through Mannino's legs to cut the Sound Tigers' lead to 3-1 while Albany was on the power-play.
The River Rats would cut the Sound Tigers lead to one when Dodge deflected a point shot off the stick of Ryan for his second goal of the season. Mark Flood also had an assist on the play. A minute later, Albany would tie the score at 3-3 when Blanchard drove to the net and shoveled a loose puck under Mannino's pads for his second tally of the season. Mike Angelidis and Stefan Chaput assisted. Ryan would finish the comeback with three minutes remaining in regulation time when he intercepted a breakout pass from the Sound Tigers' zone and skated in alone on Mannino. Ryan quickly snapped the puck through the rookie goaltender for his first goal of the season, giving the River Rats the 4-3 lead, which they would not relinquish.
Mannino suffered the loss, his first of the season in regulation time, but finished with 20 saves on 24 shots including a penalty shot that he gloved off the stick of Angelidis in the second period. Peters, who started the game, had seven saves on eight shots while Manzato earned the victory turning aside 20 shots.
