Syracuse Crunch News Release

Rosemont, IL (November 2, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena tonight, 2-1, in front of 3,935 fans.

The Crunch struck first for the third consecutive game 6:41 into the opening stanza. A good cycle in the corner created a power play opportunity when Matt Anderson was whistled off for tripping at 4:48.

On the ensuing man-advantage, Aaron Rome fed Maksim Mayorov in the left circle for a shot. Mayorov's bid bounced into the slot and found the waiting stick of bulky Tom Sestito, who whacked it past Chicago starter Robert Gherson to give the Crunch a 1-0 lead.

The Wolves evened it up just over six minutes later, just as a power play of their own had expired. Steve Martins found a loose puck on the side of the net, maneuvered his way the front and poked it through the legs of Crunch starter Steve Mason to tie the game at 1-1.

The action and the hitting picked up considerably in the second period, but it was Chicago who took the lead ten and a half minutes in.

Joey Crabb went had to the front of the net, took a centering feed from Grant Lewis and snuck it by Mason for the 2-1 advantage.

The Crunch could not mount another comeback in the third, as Chicago cut down the Crunch's opportunities and held the club to just six third period shots and 20 for the entire game.
