Missouri River Otters News Release

Cole Bassett supplied the goals, and Kevin Reiter supplied the saves, as the Missouri River Otters defeated the Kansas City Outlaws 2-1 Wednesday night at the Kemper Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the River Otters struck first in the second period. Jim Montgomery hit Bassett in stride with a great pass, and Bassett sped in on the left wing and fired a laser-beam wrist-shot that beat Outlaws goaltender Tim Knudsen high to the stick side. After Jason Ruff tied the game on the power play, Bassett struck again with another great wrist-shot to give his squad a 2-1 lead.

The third period was highlighted by a phenomenal save by Kevin Reiter on Ruff with two minutes remaining the game. Reiter made 22 saves for his 13th win of the season, while Knudsen made 28 saves in defeat.

The River Otters play the Kalamazoo Wings Friday night at Wings Stadium. The puck drops at 6:30 PM CST, and all the action can be heard on ESPN 1380-AM and the B2 webcast at www.riverotters.com.
