Sacramento River Cats News Release
SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The Sacramento River Cats (22-22) tallied 16 hits but managed only five runs in a 12-5 loss on Sunday afternoon to the Salt Lake Bees (25-19).
Sacramento got within one of Salt Lake with a three-run fifth inning, but the bullpen would surrender six runs over the next three frames as the Bees blew the game open.
A run-scoring double from second baseman Myles Schroder was one of four hits for the River Cats during their fifth-inning rally. Schroder finished the game going 4-for-5 with two doubles and a triple. Third baseman Ryder Jones also doubled twice, and outfielder Caleb Gindl recorded four hits, as well.
Returning to Sacramento on Monday to begin a nine-game homestand will be the River Cats, who will face the Las Vegas 51s for four games and the Albuquerque Isotopes for five. Tyler Beede (1-4, 5.58) will get the call for Sacramento to face 51s right-hander Andrew Church, who will be making his first Triple-A appearance of the season. Additional Notes
- The four home runs allowed by starting pitcher Jose Flores set a new individual season-high for the River Cats and tied a team-high for a single game.
- Outfielder Austin Slater was removed from the game to start the third inning, though there was no apparent injury sustained. He did manage to single in one of his two plate appearances to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.
