Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Oklahoma City - Jake Peter hit two of the Oklahoma City Dodgers' four home runs in an 11-2 win against the Nashville Sounds Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Peter recorded the first multi-homer game of his career, collecting a season-high four RBI, as the Dodgers hit at least four homers in a game for the third time this season.
With Sunday's win, the Dodgers won their four-game set against the Sounds, 3-1, and won for the ninth time in the last 10 home games against the Sounds.
The Dodgers improved their PCL-best record to 27-13 overall and improved their Minor League-leading home record to 20-4.
Donovan Solano finished a triple shy of the cycle, picking up a game-high four hits along with two RBI and two runs scored while the Dodgers held the Sounds to three or fewer runs for the ninth time in the last 12 meetings in OKC.
Solano and Travis Taijeron hit the other two homers in the game as the Dodgers tied their second-highest home run total of the season with four, training only their six-homer game May 10 against Memphis.
Solano's home run out to straight center field put the Dodgers on the scoreboard first in the fourth inning for a 1-0 lead. A two-run RBI single by Kyle Garlick later in the inning extended Oklahoma City's lead to 3-0.
Dodgers starting pitcher Guillermo Moscoso was hit in the back with a comebacker in the third inning and exited the game after four scoreless innings. He allowed one hit, two walks and recorded four strikeouts in a no-decision outing.
With reliever Ariel Hernandez on the mound for Oklahoma City, the Sounds loaded the bases with one out in the fifth inning for B.J. Boyd, who Hernandez struck out. Still with the bases loaded, Franklin Barreto drew a walk to bring home the Sounds' first run of the afternoon and cut Oklahoma City's lead to 3-1. With the bases loaded again, Hernandez got Anthony Garcia to strikeout to end the inning.
With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Taijeron brought home two more runs for Oklahoma City when he lined a single to center field for a 5-1 Dodgers advantage.
Peter's solo homer to right field in the sixth inning pushed Oklahoma City's lead to 6-1.
The Sounds (21-21) loaded the bases again in the seventh inning for Jake Smolinski, who Dodgers reliever Edward Paredes struck out to end the inning.
Taijeron's solo homer led off the bottom of the eighth inning, extending Oklahoma City's lead to 7-1 and Peter's three-run homer later in the inning pushed OKC's lead to 10-1. Peter now has four home runs on the season.
Needing a triple to complete the cycle, Solano hit a fly ball to right field with two outs in the eighth inning. He rounded second, but was thrown out just shy of third base to close the eighth inning. However, his double did score Oklahoma City's 11th run of the afternoon.
An RBI groundout by Nashville's Barreto in the ninth inning cut the Dodgers' lead to 11-1.
Dodgers reliever Joe Broussard (3-0) was credited with the win, allowing one hit over a scoreless sixth inning.
Nashville starting pitcher Frankie Montas (1-5) was charged with the loss for the Sounds, allowing five runs and seven hits over 5.0 innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Dodgers next head out on a nine-game road trip, starting with a four-game series against the Memphis Redbirds at 6:35 p.m. Monday at AutoZone Park.
