Charlottetown Islanders News Release

It's QMJHL Rivalry Weekend and the excitement is reaching a fever pitch. The Charlottetown Islanders and Saint John Sea Dogs will take to the ice once again tonight at the Eastlink Centre in the first game of a home-at-home series as part of the annual QMJHL series pitting two rivals against one another.

The Islanders have had the upper hand on the Sea Dogs so far this season, defeating them in both matchups thus far. Dating back to the 2017-2018 season, the Islanders are 8-2-1-0 against their Maritime Divison rival.

The two teams last met two weeks ago on October 14th, where the Islanders defeated the Sea Dogs 6-5 in the shootout. The two teams have gone in opposite directions since that weekend; the Islanders have won five straight games, while the Sea Dogs have lost five games in a row.

Charlottetown is being led by a white-hot offense that has scored at least five goals in each of their last four games. Head coach Jim Hulton has promoted a shoot-first mentality amongst his players and they've bought in; the Islanders are second in the QMJHL with 513 shots on net, behind only the Drummondville Voltigeurs. Nikita Alexandrov currently leads the team with 8 goals, while Derek Gentile is the overall points leader with 13 points.

For Saint John, Yohan Plamondon has led the charge offensively with six goals and ten points in 13 games. Forward Robbie Burt will be looking for a repeat performance from his last game against Charlottetown, where he posted two goals and an assist in the shootout loss.

Tonight's game is an Olde Dublin Pub Happy Hour game. Join Carter MacLellan in the Moose Light Lounge from 6:30-game time, and for an hour after the game, for live music, Olde Dublin Pub samplers, and $3 beverages. Tickets are available at the Eastlink Centre box office, by phone at 902-629-6625, or online at https://boxoffice.eastlinkcentrepei.com. We'll see you tonight!
