Ritter Goes Deep Again as Ponies Knock Off Fightins in Slugfest

READING, PA - Luke Ritter's torrid stretch continued as he hit a clutch three-run homer in the eighth inning to propel the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (24-27) to a 10-8 win over the Reading Fightin Phils in the series opener at FirstEnergy Stadium Tuesday night.

With the Rumble Ponies up 7-6 and runners on second and third with two out in the eighth, Ritter blasted a three-run homer over the left field wall to put Binghamton up 10-6. It is Ritter's seventh homer in his last 11 games. He now has 10 home runs on the year and three over his last two games. Ritter nearly had another home run when he hit an RBI triple off the right field wall in the third inning. Ritter finished with two hits, four RBI, and two runs scored.

Rowdey Jordan started the scoring with a two-run homer to right in the first inning, his fourth of the year. Jordan added an RBI double in the sixth to put Binghamton ahead 7-5 and finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI, reaching base four times.

Wyatt Young had the second Ponies triple of the night, coming against Philadelphia Phillies RHP Jose Alverado (0-1), which drove in Jordan all the way from first in the sixth to put Binghamton up 6-5. They would not relinquish the lead from that point forward.

Ponies RHP Junior Santos (3-4) earned the win allowing five runs over six innings in the start. RHP Dylan Hall pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his second save of the year with Binghamton. Alverado (0-1), making an MLB rehab start with Reading (20-31), took the loss.

The Rumble Ponies continue their series against the Fightins on Wednesday night in Reading, with first pitch at 7:00 PM and the NYCM Insurance Pregame Show getting underway at 6:45 PM.

Postgame Notes: The two teams combined for 18 runs and 27 hits...Matt O'Neill had a multi-hit game and scored a run...Binghamton snapped a five-game losing streak with the victory.
