Rippers Win First Series in Blowout

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS - The Rippers (5-10) scored runs in each of the first five innings and Yohan Gonzalez made it stick, leading London to a 12-1 victory over Rockford.

London put two runs on the board in the top of the 1st without a hit. Four straight walks and a wild pitch by RiverHawks' starter, Kevin Patterson, scored Joash Brodin and David Christensen, putting the Rippers up 2-0.

The scoring continued in the 2nd . Tony Delmonico crushed his 2nd home run of the season, driving home Clifton Thomas and Aaron Glaum, making it 5-0 Rippers.

The inning continued with singles by Brodin and Christensen, who both scored on RiverHawks'shortstop, Daniel Gonzalez's error, ending the inning at 7-0 London.

Brodin drove in London's 8th run with a single in the 3rd, scoring Thomas.

Zach Larson upped the lead to 9-0 with his fourth homer in the 4th .

London took an 11-0 lead in the 5th on an RBI double by Brodin, followed by an RBI single by David Christensen.

Christensen wrapped up the scoring with a solo homer in the top of the 9th, his 4th of the year.

Yohan Gonzalez (2-0) cruised through 7 innings, allowing only an unearned run on five hits. He struck out 4 and walked one.

The Rippers will enjoy an off day tomorrow before starting their first 6-game home stand at Labatt Park this season. The Normal Cornbelters will be in town for a three game series, opening Tuesday, June 5th at 6:30pm.
