Rippers Select Five in Frontier League Draft

LONDON, ONTARIO - The London Rippers have participated in the annual Frontier League Draft, this year, hel d at Washington's CONSOL Energy Park.

The Rippers picked 11th in each of the three rounds of the draft before making two selections in the final two rounds.

With their pick in the first round, London selected right-handed pitcher, Charles Wooten.

Wooten recently graduated from Bowling Green State University, where he appeared in a team high 23 games in 2009.

In Round 2, the Rippers took right-handed pitcher, Andrew Chilcoat. Chilcoat comes from the Western Carolina Catamounts, where he made 68 relief appearances in two years.

With their pick in the third round, London chose catcher, Brandon Fowler. He was drafted in the 45th round of the 2007 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals and played with their Arizona League Rookie team in 2008. In 2010, he was with the San Diego Padres Arizona League Rookie affiliate before spending last season with the Chico Outlaws of the North American League.

In the 4th Round, London decided on right-handed pitcher, David Triplet, who spent two seasons with the Gulf Coast League Rookie affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Catcher, Philip Roscoe was chosen in the subsequent rounds. He recently played at Beloit College and Clearwater Christian College.

These players will be attending training camp with the London Rippers, which starts on May 4th at the newly-renovated Diamonds of Jaycee Park.
