
Ripken Baseball Partners with Comcast Corporation

Lutherville, MD â Ripken Baseball, in conjunction with Comcast Corporation (NasdaqNM: CMCSA), today announced a partnership that will make Cal Ripken, Jr. the spokesman for largest U.S. cable company with over 21 million customers in 41 states. The deal is for two years with an option for 2005. Terms of the deal were not announced.
On November 18, 2002, Comcast Corporation merged with AT&T Broadband to form the new Comcast Corporation. Additionally, Comcast serves 3.3 million high speed data customers and 6.3 digital video customers nationwide. Comcast is all the majority owner of Comcast-Spectacor, Comcast SportsNet, E! Entertainment Television, and The Golf Channel.
In addition to Ripken serving as a spokesman for Comcast, the deal also includes two additional sponsorship components. A sponsorship of the Aberdeen IronBirds, the Baltimore Orioles minor league affiliate that is a subsidiary of Ripken Baseball, and a sponsorship of the Cal Ripken World Series, the nationally televised tournament that culminates with the crowning of the champion of the Cal Ripken Division of Babe Ruth League, Inc. The World Series will be played in Aberdeen, MD, August 14-24.

Ripken Baseball is a sales and marketing company with the goal of growing baseball worldwide, "The Ripken Way". It is the parent company of several subsidiaries, including The Aberdeen IronBirds, Ripken Management & Design, Ripken Baseball Camps & Clinics and The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.
Other national companies that have partnered with Ripken Baseball include MBNA America, Coca-Cola, Quaker State, Radio Shack and Pro Green.
