Riggers Sign New Assistant
February 25, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release
The Calgary Roughnecks have signed a new assistant coach.
Jeff Dowling, older brother of Riggers sharpshooter Ted Dowling, will be behind the bench for the game against Vancouver Friday night (February 27).
"He's a very knowledgeable lacrosse guy," said Head Coach Chris Hall, "and is particularly adept when it comes to the defensive end of things.
"He's also good at breaking down games and putting together professional scouting tapes."
Dowling, 37, has previous NLL coaching experience with Columbus and Anaheim.
Hall said he and club President Brad Banister felt the team needed more presence on the bench.
"There's so much going on out there (during a game)," said Hall, "that the more sharp people you have helping out so much the better."
Dowling has been scouting for the Roughnecks in recent weeks.
