Frisco RoughRiders News Release
A Kevin Richardson sacrifice fly with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning scored pinch runner Renny Osuna with the winning run, as the RoughRiders beat San Antonio 1-0 on Thursday night.
With the game scoreless into the bottom of the 11th inning, 'Riders first baseman Johnny Whittleman worked a lead-off walk. After Osuna entered the game to run for Whittleman, San Antonio reliever Aaron Poreda threw the ball away trying to keep Osuna close at first. After Joey Butler walked, Wes Bankston executed a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third. Then, with one out in the inning, Richardson lifted a shallow fly to right field that hung up long enough for Osuna to beat the tag at home.
Frisco's first extra-innings game of the year was started by Blake Beavan (2-2, 3.38). He struck out six batters and allowed five hits over 5.2 innings.
Poreda (0-1, 1.64) took the loss for San Antonio. He allowed one earned run over 0.2 innings, giving up two walks.
Frisco (10-10) split its four-game series with San Antonio and now heads to Corpus Christi for a four-game series starting on Friday. Tanner Roark (2-1, 5.06) is scheduled to start the opener.
Notes: Tanner Scheppers (1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 K) has now struck out 19 batters in 11 innings. Paid attendance: 5, 673
