Riders Venture to Extras for First Time in 2018, Fall 4-3 in 11

TULSA, Okla. - The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, voyaged to extra innings for the first time this season Thursday in Tulsa, falling 4-3 to the Drillers in 11 innings.

BIG MOMENTS

Tulsa's D.J. Peters drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 11th inning to close out the win for the Drillers.

Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, the Riders grabbed a 3-2 lead on a pair of passed balls.

Tulsa tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI groundout but reliever Brady Feigl stranded the potential go-ahead run at third base to keep the game tied and eventually force extras.

Scott Heineman: 3-4, 2B, BB, R

Collin Wiles: 5 2/3 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

NEWS AND NOTES

Thursday's game marked the first time the Riders played under Minor League Baseball's new extra-inning rules (enacted prior to this season), featuring a runner starting at second base to begin each inning.

Scott Heineman reached his first four times at the plate Thursday, compiling a streak of reaching safely in eight straight plate appearances for the second time in the young season.

Heineman is batting .632 (12-19) on his current six-game hitting streak.
