'Riders Take Game One of Doubleheader
July 3, 2010 - Texas League (TL1)
Frisco RoughRiders News Release
The 'Riders scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning as the club took game one of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, 10-5 over Springfield.
After scoring seven runs in the bottom of the third inning, the RoughRiders found themselves in danger of giving it all back as the Cardinals scored four runs against Frisco starter, Richard Bleier in the top of the fourth inning. Bleier (4-6, 5.66) allowed four runs on seven hits over three innings.
Springfield loaded the bases with nobody out in the fourth before Mother Nature got involved, as the two clubs had to navigate through a 98 minute rain delay. When the game finally resumed, 'Riders reliever Brennan Garr came out of the bullpen and retired three straight Cardinals to preserve the 7-4 lead.
Four RoughRiders collected RBIs on the day, led by third basemen Mitch Hilligoss, who drove in a pair of runs with an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Hilligoss
Frisco (45-32) will try to sweep the doubleheader as Ryan Tatusko (6-1, 3.65) takes the hill in game two of the twinbill against Springfield (40-37).
Notes
The two teams played seven innings, instead of nine. CF Engel Beltre (1-3, R, BB) made his 2010 debut for Frisco.
