Riders Overpower Hooks for 5-4 Loss

CORPUS CHRISTI - Josh Stowers hit two home runs for the Frisco RoughRiders to help defeat the Hooks, 5-4, Friday night at Whataburger Field.

The Frisco right fielder accounted for the game's first run with a solo blast off Cesar Rosado in the third inning. Stowers homered again - his 14th this season - in the seventh inning to open up a 5-2 Riders lead after the Hooks scored two in the sixth.

The Hooks drew within a run in the bottom of the seventh on RBI singles from Corey Julks and Joe Perez.

But Noah Bremer settled down to keep Corpus Christi off the board for the final two frames.

Top Texas Rangers pitching prospect Cole Winn was outstanding over 5.0 innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out seven. No. 1 Rangers prospect Josh Jung also hit a solo home run (9).

Rosado matched a season high with nine strikeouts with three earned runs over 6.0 stanzas.

Ross Adolph was 3-for-3 with a pair of triples and two runs scored in the loss.

The series continues Saturday with Joe Record scheduled to start. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Hooks Clear Tote Bag, courtesy of Corpus Christi Medical Center.
