Frisco RoughRiders News Release
MIDLAND, TEXAS (August 3, 2015) - Named the Texas League Offensive Player of the Week earlier on Monday, Ryon Healy lived up to the accolade with a two-hit, two-RBI game to help the Midland RockHounds shutout the Frisco RoughRiders, 5-0, on Monday at Security Bank Ballpark.
Healy put the RockHounds (25-13, 60-48) on the board with a two-out RBI single in the second inning. The former Oregon Duck reached safely in all four plate appearances.
Pitching behind an early 1-0 lead, Midland starter Jake Sanchez (9-7) held the Riders to three hits over six innings to win his ninth game, and improve to 3-1 in six starts against Frisco.
A pair of doubles added to Midland's lead in the fourth. With one out, Chad Pinder doubled and scored when right fielder Matt Olson followed suit, and the RockHounds led 2-0.
The Riders had the leadoff hitter reach base five times, but failed to capitalize at any point. Beck contributed three singles, and Lewis Brinson had the only other hit for the Riders.
Two hits and walk set up a bases loaded situation for the RockHounds in the sixth, and knocked Chad Bell (3-12) out of the game. Lendy Castillo walked Healy and Bruce Maxwell giving Midland a 4-0 lead, and a sac fly from Jaycob Brugman made it 5-0.
The RoughRiders (17-19, 46-61) have lost 11 straight contests, and Monday marked the 10th time this season the team has been shutout. LHP Victor Payano (3-2) starts for the Riders on Tuesday against Midland's LHP Dillon Overton (3-2). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Security Bank Ballpark. The RoughRiders return to the Metroplex on August 6 to play 10 games over an 11 day span.
